Welcome Back

You should receive your letter in the mail on Monday.  Please be sure to read the letter and all the information on the front and back.  The letter will tell you who your child's teacher will be for this school year as well as what day they will attend orientation.  All siblings have been scheduled to attend orientation on the same days as well as A day / B day that will begin on September 14.  If your children are not scheduled on the same day please send an email to akiger@davidson.k12.nc.us.  At anytime that you wish to change your child to all remote please send an email as well.  Students assigned A day / B day have been divided so that only 50% of the class attends.  We will have a Virtual Meet the Teacher on Thursday, August 13.  Teachers will set up a Zoom link for their particular classroom.  The links to their particular classroom can be found on the Northwest website after 3:00 on Wednesday, August 12.  The NW staff does not return until Wednesday so they will need to time to get this information set up and ready for Thursday.  Also included in your letter is a DCS Device Agreement form.  All students will need to have this filled out by a parent.  Students will need to bring this paper on their orientation day so they can receive their electronic device for remote learning.  In addition to the $7.00 school fees, all DCS students will be required to pay a $35.00 device fee this school year.  All monies will need to be paid via School Cash Online this school year.  Information on how to sign up will be given on orientation day with all of the student paperwork.  All elementary school start times have changed for this year.  Our school day will begin at 7:50 a.m. and dismissal will be at 2:25 p.m.  The school will open at 7:20 a.m. each morning.  Students that are car riders will have their temperatures checked before getting out of the car each morning so please be prepared with a little extra time and patience each morning.  All NW students will receive free breakfast and lunch on their orientation day.  Please do not send any school supplies other than a pencil and a small pack of crayons with your child.  All school supplies will need to come with students when they return for A day / B day instruction.  Please send their bookbag with them because they will have items to bring home to use during their remote learning.  All a reminder that all staff and students will be required to wear a mask.  Mask breaks will be given.  Students are also encouraged to bring a filled water bottle with them to school each day.  They will have opportunities to refill them during the day at a water filling station.  Water fountains will not be used at this time.  Please do not hesitate to send an email if you have any questions.  We are all in this together.  More information about remote learning will be shared with you once teachers return and have received the information for their classrooms.
